Personal stories
On Sunday night we were over at my in-laws for dinner and Frankie came and sat on my lap. I looked down and saw the tip of her finger was puffy looking. 5 minutes later it was more liquidy looking and puffy, it just didn’t look normal, and certainly not like anything I’d ever seen. The pediatrician recommended taking her in if it was increasing in size, which it was. I took her to the Children’s ER (where the staff are all so so friendly) and she was seen. They said it was the most “impressive” paronychia they’ve ever seen. Basically an infected hangnail. They said they’d never seen one go around the finger like that. They numbed her finger, then had a child specialist come and read her this huge book with buttons while they drained it so she didn’t even see/notice what was happening. She’ll be on antibiotics for a week and then hopefully all good. On the way home she said “mommy, I had so much fun at the hospital with you,” then she fell asleep. Such a scary thing going to the ER, I’m just glad she was/is ok.
We went to see Disney on Ice, and wow do they know how to put on a show. It was so good and the kids loved it!
Weekend reads
Just finished A Love Song for Ricky Wilde by Tia Williams (who wrote Seven Days in June which was 5/5so so good) I’d give it a solid 4/5.
Currently listening to The Silent Patient and am loving it. My mother in law recommended it to me and I saw they had it at the library on CD so I got it. “The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband―and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive.”
Also I’m reading Inheritance by Nora Roberts - thanks for the recommendation Kelly - and am loving it so far. Nora Roberts was the first romance author I read, so she’ll forever hold a special place in my heart! “A tale of tragedies, loves found and lost, and a family haunted for generations.”
