No cook recipes for you to try and stumbling upon an amazing restaurant
Hi Friends,
I must admit, I’m loving the more structured schedule with 3 of the 4 kids now in school. It’s only a week in, but we’re slowly getting there.
This past week was super busy with a weekend soccer tournament and sweltering temps, so no-cooking recipes are on the brain, that, and I posted the most delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe ever with a secret ingredient that makes the texture sheer perfection: soft, chewy and a little crispy.
On the blog this week

Personal stories
It’s been HOT, we went to an ice cream stand called Lee’s Dairy Treat, so good but boy did it melt fast outside!
Ben had a soccer tournament and after we went to Chicago for dinner with just him. We were originally going to go to Eataly, but then Ben said he wanted tacos. We walked into a Mexican restaurant and it just so happened to be a Rick Bayless restaurant. It was called Xoco and omg, it was so good, we kept marveling at what a happy accident it was we walked in and actually got a table (there was a line after us!)
It was our 11th anniversary over the weekend (we had a Serbian orthodox wedding!)
Weekend reads
Finished Tom Lake: A Novel -5/5 (reminds me I need to do a wrap up post of what I’ve read the past month)-Meryl Streep voice acts/reads the audio version which I’m listing too and it’s very engrossing. “In this beautiful and moving novel about family, love, and growing up, Ann Patchett once again proves herself one of America’s finest writers”
Started You, With a View and it’s so good so far! “Two high school enemies must reunite for a road trip inspired by their grandparents’ broken engagement in this electric debut romance.”
Loving this dress and only now getting around to buying it - from last weeks’ Love List!
