Hi Friends,
Thank you for making the switch over to this new platform with me. I realized my link about why we switched didn’t work, sorry about that. Here it is in case you’re curious.
There’s nothing quite like starting your day with that perfect cup of coffee. For me, that’s a good French Pressed cup of coffee, with homemade creamer. With 4 kids (3 of which are running around and one juuust about to walk and crawling all around and getting into everrrrything) it’s more in the ‘necessity’ column lol.
I use this kettle every morning, it’s a game changer for heating up water quickly.
Unfortunately, caffeine can be a short lived energy boost. When you’re looking for sustained energy or even a pick-me-up in the afternoon, you want to opt for energizing foods - such as lean sources of protein, high fiber, grains and natural sugars.
Here are some of my favorite recipes that give you energy:
Energy bites: they contain oats and nuts (and natural sweeteners like dates or honey)
Lean protein meals with salmon or shrimp
Avocados and eggs - high energy ingredients and great for vegetarian meals
New on the Blog
Weekly meal plan - packed with cozy winter recipes and a bonus no-bake dessert!
Sheet pan Greek potatoes with chicken sausage and zucchini - one of Phi's favorite meals that she is now sharing with you! All made on only one sheet pan for easy clean up.
Love List - this week, we found the cutest matching Valentine’s sweaters, a popcorn mix you have to try and a list of self-care ideas that will help any of us relax.
Personal Stories
Look away if mess gives you anxiety lol. We had so much fun in something called a 'splatter room' - the kids got dressed head to toe in covering and then got to splatter paint everywhere (and take home a canvas.) Highly suggest for both kids and grownups alike. It was in the back of a place called Field Workshop
This was the first time our babysitter didn't make fun of us for being home by 8. Nick and I went to dinner at Morel and a jazz club with friends. They also have kids so we all wrapped up at by 10, for us that was late because no matter what, our kids are up between 5:30-6am!
Weekend watch:
Watch: If you liked Virgin River and need a cheesy background show, try Heart of Dixie (it even has a similar premise and the grumpy old doctor is in it, lol) it's an older show from 2011 but my sister in law told me about it's one of those 'kinda so bad it's good' situations. We found it on FreeVee - a free Amazon streaming service.
Movie night: Rent/watch the Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS. We loved it! Also, I cannot tell you how funny I find the meme’s of Austin Butler (main actor) still speaking in the Elvis accent.
